Based on our Summer Seasonal Blonde Ale, we decided that a Blueberry flavored beer would be perfect for the late San Diego warm fall weather and would be perfect for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, and hence “Blueberry Blonde” was born.
We reprofiled the hop additions to dial back the IBUs and remove the aroma, then we added an all-natural artisan blueberry flavor infusion late in the fermentation.
The result is a distinct, clean berry aroma and a deep purple color under a light pink head. Even at 6% alcohol by volume, Blueberry Blonde is the perfect, refreshing ale after a hot afternoon. There is a tartness from the berry that is complimented by the early hops to produce a balance that is crisp and dry but full of berry flavor.
Brewed to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of iconic San Diego restaurant “Tom Hams Lighthouse”. Lighthouse 45 is a Belgian Style Amber Ale.
A deep copper colored body supports a white foamy head and a classic Belgian fruit yeast aroma greets your first sip. Then dark fruit, honey and citrus notes wash over your tongue and are balanced by a clean, toast malt undertone, with a dry finish and a hint of corriander.
At 6.4% alcohol by volume, Lighthouse 45 can best be enjoyed from a snifter glass that accentuates the flavor and aroma as the heat of your hand warms the glass.
We are honored to be asked to create this special beer for a restaurant that has a special place in the hearts of many San Diegans.
